How Do YOU Feel?

It's one of my jobs at work to read through the "legal" section & see if there's any requests for bids for surveying or engineering jobs. So I also get the opportunity to read the local paper everyday. I found this . . .

Perspective
Re: War in Iraq
I was browsing through my son’s MySpace and found this in one of those “get to know me” surveys. My son is a U.S. Marine who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a 2003 graduate of Montrose High School. I found this quite insightful and thought the people of Montrose may want to hear from a local boy who’s been there.
Do you believe in the war?
“I refuse to believe that me (sic) and so many others like me fought and killed and died for nothing and still continue to do so. I saw the faces of those we saved and freed and have been shown nothing but the utmost gratitude. They are more grateful than the Americans. This is not a war that is for the betterment of the American people anymore. Its start was a just retaliation of those who murdered over 3000 innocent people that September morning and has escalated in not only the prevention of another 9/11, but a prevention of another Somalia, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, London, Russia and countless others. The American people in general do not comprehend why the U.S. troops do what we do and they never will until they have done it themselves. No this war is not about oil, it’s not about terrorism, it’s not about American influence throughout the Middle East, it definitely is not about the president’s own personal vendetta, and it definitely isn’t about money. Please remember every single service member is a volunteer and while each of our voluntary service may be for its own personal reasons we still volunteered. And in the end just know that the strong protected the weak and inspired the hopeless to stand on their own united and resistant against an oppression that was once thought of as just the way things were. So yes, I believe in the war.”
Do I believe in the war? I believe in my son,my brother, and my uncles who have fought, returned and even died to protect the weak and inspire the hopeless. God Bless all the vets for all you gave and those who continue to give.

I think that a lot of good is being done, and that it's appreciated by the GOOD PEOPLE that live in Iraq. I also think that the supposed reason for getting into a war with Iraq in the first place was a bunch of bunk. And I also think that the Iraqis have had plenty of time to get their shit together and start protecting themselves. I'm hoping Obama becomes the next president and pulls us out within a year of taking office.

Mom:

Well, I hate seeing all those young men being killed every day and I am not in the loop to know what the real reasoning for this war is and was and I cant second guess why we are staying since not being in the loop I dont have all the facts but this I do know that my God was in control and is in control and He will be able to explain it to me someday if I continue to believe in Him and love Him by doing what He impresses me to do. Listening is the hard part.

The Bro:

Hey Sis,

It is my understanding that we've kind of 'changed' tatics over there now and are making really good progress at what our mission and goal over there is.

At first I was for it, then I was against it, then I became indifferent to it, then I just wanted it over, and then I got to the point where I want for whatever reason we got into that thing, and for whatever reason we are still there, to come away with good results and to do something meaningful and helpful for the people of Iraq.

Of course with all the stuff going on all over the world, I'm kind of getting to the point where the US should just live for the US and quit sending billions of dollars to all these countries that take our money and yet hate us.

Lets focus on the good old USA and let all these countries figure it out for themselves. Ya know!

Well, that's my feelings on it!!!
