I'm finishing up my 3rd year as a member of our School Board. The first year was "status quo". The 2nd year we decided not to re-hire the teacher that had been here for about 8 years. The school wasn't growing, in-fact we had been losing students. So, I'm into my 3rd year. Our current teacher has decided to go to South Korea to teach. I'm proud of her. This has been her first year teaching and married to boot. I wish her the best, however, it's put the School Board in a bind, having to find another teacher. But our current teacher has done a GREAT job helping our school grow. When she got here, we had 10 students in grades 1-8. Now, we have 16 students in grades 1-8. We have 6 kindergarteners that are going into 1st grade and we have 6 kids registered for kintergarten next year. Well, we had a big debate whether or not to have 2 teachers or if we should stick with one. If we didn't hire 2 teachers we would have to start turning kids away. So we took it to the Church Business Meeting & it got approved!!
Yeah!! We are going to have a 2 teacher school!! Our school has not had 2 teachers for YEARS!!! I'm in shock, excited, but in shock. We are interviewing the 1st teacher on Wednesday. I pray all goes well.

I was pretty surprised at how one-sided teh vote was. Scratch that. I expected the vote to be one-sided, but going the other direction. What was it? 39-2 or something? That just blew me away! I'm totally psyched to see the school growing the way it is. Hopefully it will stay vital while our kids are there, and beyond. Hopefully the church will be able to find the money to keep it going!
