Every other Tuesday I sprint to the MD's office to get my allergy shots & then I race back to the office to work. Today, I almost forgot & once again sprinted to the MD's office to be treated like a pin cushion. When I got there the receptionist was on the phone, so I patiently waited, and waited, and waited for her to finish. Well, as I was waiting the lady/girl/person (however you want to say it) came up & I was asking her about being a "preferred provider" since my company is switching insurance companies AGAIN. Well, she was explaining to me that they weren't going to, but then decided to because alot of patients apparently are with the same insurance company. We finished our conversation, the receptionist was still on the phone, so I waved at her & sat down in the waiting area to, of course, wait for the nurse to come get me so I could get my shots. They were very busy, so I didn't question when everyone else was taken before me & I was the last one in the office. After all, I was looking at a magazine & not paying attention to what time it was. Finally, I got up to see how much longer it was going to be because I was on my lunch hour. Yeah, get this . . . the receptionist had never put my chart up & on top of that the nurse took off & went to lunch. So at that point I couldn't do anything but leave anyway. I'm so sick & tired of getting this kind of treatment from the MD's office. No, I don't sit for an hour every time, but I have to sit & wait for at least 20 minutes before they come get me EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's like, my time isn't worth jack-shit to them, but their time is the most valuable in the world. Yeah, whatever . . . . . .

HHHHHHHMMMMMMM. I wish I could comment further on this but working in the medical field I have finally figured out why they pull you from the waiting area to wait in the exam room for another thirty min. At least the waiting area has mag's and music. The only thing you hear in that room is the crinkly paper on the bed, which I refuse to sit on until the Dr. is in the room. I lounge confortably in the cushy chair until their arrival. I'd tell you why, but according to medical code, I'd have to kill you.

Sounds like the receptionist needs a lesson in multi-tasking. I hope she wasn't on a personal call. Also sounds like the whole group could use some lessons on customer service.
When you go back I'd tell the Dr. about the experience, maybe he isn't aware of it. How many other people in his care are getting treated like that. Sooner or later it will affect his golf game, if he loses enough patients.

That has happened to me before. They really seem to take it for granted that they have you as a patient. Seems you can barely get them to give you the courtesy of looking up from what they're doing & smile at you when you show up for an appointment these days. Of course, if you are uninsured and you miss making a payment, they'll think about you a WHOLE lot!!
