Wednesday after having a poopy day at work & also getting off late, I rushed home, picked up the family + the dog & headed over the mountain to see the in-laws for Thanksgiving. After arriving around 11:30pm we said our hello's to Tim (Mary was in bed, lucky girl) & dropped dead into bed.
Thursday morning, we drug our sorry rears out of bed & got ready for the day. Around 10:30am Mom & Dad Nelson arrived & we had our Christmas with them before everybody else arrived for Thanksgiving lunch. It was great!! It was myself, Scott, Brian, Rebekah, Tim, Mary, Herb, Sue, Grandma Nelson (Herb's Mom), Thorban, Susan, Jodie, Janet, Jessalene, Jamie & her boyfriend Deva at Tim & Mary's place for lunch. After lunch we watched the Broncos game. GO BRONCOS!!!! However, it was a little nerve racking there for a bit. It's always nice to be able to spend at least one day with the FAMILY.
Friday we slept in & puttzed the morning away. After I got the checkbook balanced, Scott & I drove down to the dealership we bought the truck from in August to see if they would be willing to tell us what was wrong with the stereo in the truck. As we feared, the stereo was shot, but the good news is the rest of the truck is okay. However, to replace the stereo with the same exact one we had was going to cost us $450, so we passed. When we got back to Time & Mary's, Tim told Scott that he had a stereo he pulled out of his Dodge Intrepid before he sold it, so he thought it just might fit our Truck. Sure enough, it looked like it was going to fit nicely. After we got back, the four of us adults took the two kids to the movies. (see previous post) The adults & one child enjoyed the movie, but the youngest child was to restless. (thanks for the idea tim & mary) We then met Mom & Dad at the Macaroni Grill for supper. We took our time & enjoyed yet another great meal, then went home & off to bed.
Sabbath morning we got out of bed, Scott showered Brian, I showered Rebekah, we got dressed & headed to Mom & Dad's for another GRAND meal & family fellowship. Of course my allergies had me in a foul mood, but I still enjoyed the family. (side note) I would like to take this short moment to apologize to the family for being such a bore. (back on track) After sundown Scott, Tim & Thorban put Tim's old stereo into the truck. We had to run to Best Buy twice to get the right parts, but they finally got it done.
This morning we dragged our lazy behinds out of bed as early as we could, since we had the drive back. It was mostly uneventful, but we did have a slippery scare on the downside of Vail pass. According to Scott we got sideways, but we just fishtailed a little bit.
Okay, so here's the story . . . . . I was coming down the hill into Vail & there was a Ford Expedition creeping along in the fast lane, so I moved over to the slow lane to pass him. I came upon a Jeep Wrangler pulling a U-Haul Trailer in the snail lane, but the Expedition didn't appreciate me trying to pass it & sped up a little. So, I had to slow down as fast as I could without sliding off the road. At that time I didn't need to or have the truck in 4-wheel drive, so my tailend was waggy back & forth a bit. Scott was in the passenger seat . . . "Throw it into 4-Wheel drive, throw it into 4-wheel drive." You would think I was sliding half way across the road. I had it under control. It wasn't a very happy under control, but under control non the less. After I was able to slow down a bit I shoved it into 4-High. Bekah started complaining that she had to go potty & after my short scare I was feeling it too. So we stopped in Vail for a potty break.
The rest of the drive was uneventful & yes, we arrived home safely. Now, I'm unpacking & trying to get ready for the week. I hope I can catch up pretty quickly at work tomorrow.
Well, Happy Holidays Everyone!!
Chow!!

I tell ya - now that I'm back out on the road as a profession, people/drivers have gotten a LOT worse in the 6 years since I was last out on the road driving professionnally.
They're a lot more inconsiderate, don't pay attention to what's happening around them, extremely impatient, don't follow or understand many of the rules of the road, won't get out of the way, cut ya off and just whole lots more junk!
Glad y'all made it safely.
