"So while a college degree was de rigueur for the baby boom generation, that's not necessarily the case now. In today's highly technical and service-related market, workers are judged more on their skills than their sheepskins."
Check out the 25 top-paying jobs that don't require a four-year degree.
I'm going through life a generation and a half ahead of my time. If I was going through high school/college right now, I think I'd be thriving. *sigh* Oh well. Hopefully my kids will do better. (and isn't that what we all end up aspiring to in the end?)

BULL SHIT - total bull shit! Most of those jobs listed require some special schooling and even Bill Gates was in college when he came up with his ideas. There is no substitute for education. If you cannot continue to learn - even for the rest of your life, what have you got?

I think we've found a BUTTON!
I can't say nutin' on this subject cuz I'm the tortured soul STILL IN SCHOOL, and some days I kick myself for it. Then again, some days I don't.

A button indeed! heh-heh
If you read that article (MOM) it clearly states that most all of the jobs listed require some sort of education, just not a 4-year degree. Tim, you're a perfect example of this in your current job; 2yrs of school, wasn't it?
Anyway, I'm just saying, if I had, or had KNOWN I had, the option of a 2yr program and off into the real world I go, I bet things would be different for me today. At any rate, I'm glad that knowledge and opportunity is there for my kids.
Back in the day I wasn't as interested in computers as I am today. THAT'S unfortunate!!

Yeah. The part where they get you is by saying the actual "program" is only 16mo or two years... HOWEVER, you need two or more years of pre-requisites to get into said program. That's what I ended up doing for Radiology,4 total years. Then, like the genius that I am, thought I should go back for another "two" year program which will of course end up taking another 4-5 total. If you do the math on that it equals 20 years, give or take (I didn't say I went to a good school. I'm no math major!). Just kidding, I do wish I would have just gone straight through med school though. Same amount of school, 3-5 times the payoff!!!
