I don't even know how long it has been seen I blogged and I'm afraid to go look! Months I'm sure. Last week I asked Mom if she would like to ride along and see the color of the leaves. Needless to say she jumped at the chance to get on the truck and travel. Had a load of meat for San Bernardino and a reload in Vernon. Made our delivery on time and went to our pick-up. They are noted for not being very fast so after setting there for a couple of hour I asked Mom if she was hungry. So we headed over to McD's to get something to eat. Came to a stop lite and waited for on coming traffic to turn(our side was red). Was setting their looking at the mural on the side of "Farmer Johns" and turned back and traffic was clear so let the clutch out. THUMP! I didn't realize I had a car under my nose! It was a Saturn and all I did was push her rubber bumper in and it popped back out. She was so mad because as I bumped her the lite changed green and she thought I was being a little impatient!! Three cops , 1 firetruck and a ambulance later I finally got lunch.

Trip back across the mt was about as beautiful as I have every seen. Was home for a day and picked up a load of soda pop and went back over the mt again. I had asked Mom if she wanted to go again and she said" sure why not!". So then we picked up eggs and headed to Oregon City, OR. Had a good trip, unloaded and didn't have to reload till the next day so caught up on sleep and read. I called my brother in Laramie last night and we met and had breakfast together this morning, Georgia and Gayla too! Sue is gone up to GVR cleaning up camp sites and last Tuesday Greg took my p/u back to WVa to his Grandma's funeral so am stranded for the moment.

So mom was on the truck 10 days and covered 5000 miles. She said she enjoyed every mile of it.

It is so nice to finally be home again! I don't have kids to come home to like Steve does but after awhile it gets old being gone so much.

On the 26th of Feb my dispatcher calls me at home and tells me my other driver has got hung up in Phoenix and won't make in in till friday, can I take another truck and go out that day and when I get back to town get back in my truck? Ok, not happy with the plan but I do need to make some money and it ain't happin' setting home! So the guy in the other truck( sister truck to mine 2488) fianlly gets in and moves his stuff out. Filthy dirty stink'n truck! A pig sty. So I got the wipey's out and wiped down what I had to touch and left out for Prewitt, NM. Made my delivery there in the morning and reloaded at the other end of building for Mesquite, TX. Delivered that load the next morning and went down to Corsicana, Tx for a Home Depot load to Colo. Spgs.. Ended up dropping that load in the yard and left out for Mira Loma, CA as soon as I got in. Dropped that load tuesday morning as it didn't deliver till wed morning and reloaded off the dock in Port Heuneme, CA. That was interesting, they were unloading a Del Monte ship on the back side of the building and loading us on the other side! The boat was late getting in and it was a mess, over a hundred trucks waiting to load banannas. I got that load delivered without an appt and reloaded for Mira Loma again. I was so tried I only made it to Cameo and went to bed. Got beeped in the morning wanting to know if I could help them out of a jam. A driver with a FedEx load got put out of service at the Loma, Co scales and they needed me to hurry over there and relay the load. They had checked his logbook against the computer and found out he had crossted a scale and not logged it. So off to Salt Lake City I go. Delivered that one and picked up another load of Home Depot and headed back to Denver. Three drops later and I'm my way to CA for the third time! This time I made it all the way and Mira Loma has yet another beer load in their yard! I got a Pottery Barn load coming back and delivered it wedsday. When they asked me what I wanted to do I told them "go home"! If they aren't going to do what you ask, why bother? Off to Omaha for thur and down to KC to reload Toys R Us for friday in Westminster, CO.

So I was gone 2wks and 2 days and drove somewhere over 8600 miles. Now that is what you call a nice paycheck!! And with b-day coming up Sue bought me a reallllly nice GPS gor the truck! A Garmin nuvi 350. Score!!

That is just how I feel today. But a better day than yesterday. For the first time since I left out on wednesday I actually got 3 consectually hours of sleep. Not good!! I was headed from Cheyenne down to Golden to reload empty Coke cans and read my dispatch again and it doesn't reload till noon tomorrow! I sent a message to the office to confirm and they said that that was right. So I just can home and went to bed. Had a wonderful nap and woke up at 5:30 and went and fed the horses. I feel so much better now. Pick up load tomorrow and go to Portales, NM and unload there, then over to Muleshoe, TX to reload back to Boulder. I'm loading at "Deaf Smith Country Grains". Texans, they kill me! And they think us Yankees are weird.

Ok, it's time for another nap. Later...

I am so happy to be home it is unbelievable! Greg flew out the 20th I believe for Atlanta to spend christmas with Heather and family and I left for Salt Lake City.Got there and unloaded and reloaded and headed home. I call the office to see what I was doing next and they told me to go home. That's great...except 1000 miles a week won't pay many bills! I was told freight was slow and people that were going to run over christmas were being sent home it was that slow. Great. Got back into Denver saturday morning and my qualcom beeps and they have a load in the yard for Sioux Falls, SD that delivers on the 24th. Be really really careful what you wish for!! I was the one complaining about not enough miles so how can you turn this down? So I went to Sioux Falls and unloaded and reload in the building next door! Was back christmas morning but Sue had left town for Scott's already so no point in coming home so picked up my load for Portales, NM(new empty Coke cans). Raton pass was having a damn blizzard up their and I couldn't believe that Monument and Raton scales were open on christmas day! Jerks! I couldn't find the off ramp on top of the pass so just turned off and headed for the scale house. Had 481 miles of blinding, blowing ice and snow but made it in time. They took the cans off and loaded me up with energy drink and I was on my way to San Antonio, TexASS for the next morning. I asked for a routing because I'm not formilar with that country and out off 500 I only had 100 of interstste driving. Had to run "puckerbrush" most of the way. Made that one and headed for Houston to reload beer the next morning. Had a dry van and needed a reefer so drove all over Houston trying to find one. Loaded in Houston noon the 28th and delivered that load in Denver new years eve the 31th. They sent me a message while unloading for a load going to Parsons, KS byt I called them and told them enough was enough! Ohhh, how long have you been out, have you done your 4 days yet? DAH! So I finally gone to come home...missed my annivarsary, missed christmas(although I had a wonderful christmas dinner of a can of beans and peanutbutter cheese crackers) and almost missed the new year. I was so tired couldn't stay awake for it anyway.

Talked to Greg this morning and asked him where they were sending him. Quess where? Parsons, KS!!! Truck wasn't out off the shop from serving just before noon and he had 600 to go today! Oh well, I had my turn and now it's his. Will propably go out again sunday.

That is it. Later...

I am happy to say that for one my computer is working great. I have a few mouse problems but that even I can fix. Sorry about yours tho Scott. Just came back in from outside. The lady that has the Indian paint mustang asked me if I would help her catch "O-ke-ze-a" so she could work with her while she is home over the holidays. She does consulting work for all the different Indian tribes, even in Alaska. Travels a lot. Mom called me and came down afterward and we went out and had lunch at Qdobas. We had naked burritoes and they were very good.

At 1pm met Deb over at the horses and we started trying to catch her horse. I don't know if you remember the history of the horse but it is almost 3 yrs old, run wild on the "res" in ND but was rounded up 3 days before Deb picked her up and someone worked the horse for 2-3 hrs prior to loading and shipping it down here. So to say it is a bit nerveous and flighty is a very true and correct statement. We spent about an hour and a half trying to get close enough to get a lead rope on here, she already has a halter on. No dice. I didn't want to upset her either and get her all spooked so was taking it easy on her. Finally I had had enough and went and got a spare panel and squeezed her into a corner. She could still turn around but it was difficult. Started throwing the rope over her back, over her withers and all over her till she calmed down. Finally she wouldn't even flinch or move Once I had worked the rope up and over her neck and head it was just a matter of swinging the other end under her neck and we had her caught. Then her whole demeaner changed. She knew she was caught and we just started rubbing her all over. You have to remember that this horse really hasn't been handled so we thought we had the world by the horns! We lead her around some and quit on a good note.

Talked to Greg today. He started out in KS, then went to Chicago, deadheaded to Greenbay and was on his way to Hutchinson, Ks for a 1am appt. Didn't know where he was going from there but it better be this way as it's my turn to go out.

That folks is my world and what's happening today. Later...

I have to tell you I had the most wonderful of days yesterday. I got back to the yard from my Topeka/KC/Englewood run at 4:30 friday morning. Layed down for a couple of hours and got up at 8. At about 10 minutes after 8 they sent me load info for a short run, I was only at 1300 miles for the week. Not good! So I ran over to the same place I picked up Topeka load and checked in. Load wouldn't be ready till 5pm. I talked to Sue and she suggested I give Tim a call beings it was his BD. So I did, hooked up with him at the mall and bought him and Mary each a BD present and looked around. Then I took him to lunch at "Red Robin" and we sat and talked for awhile. Went over to his house and watched "Oceans Thirteen" and some other airplane stuff ,went and picked up Hailey and went back to truck. Just as we got there my phone rang and my load was ready. Timing!

Made the big trip to Cheyenne, WY and unloaded at 3am and was back in Denver by 8.

And that folks is how my day went. Later...

I stopped by the house on my way to Denver thruday morning and took a shower and chatted with Sue for a bit. Grg was to meet me at 7:15 for breakfast and then see what we could do about getting his truck switched. Well he didn't show till 8 so we went right in and got everything straightened out. They told him he didn't have to take my load on(they had several drivers trying to get to TexASS) and gave him a load of recycled cardboard going to Pruite, NM and reload at same plant for CA. That load didn't deliver till monday so had him drop it at Mira Loma yard and picked up another load of paper for Denver. I talked to him this morning and he is in St.George, UT and should be in in the morning when I leave out for my 4 days.

As some of you know I have Pat"s old computer. I called and told Janet that she could have my old one because she wanted one for school. The very next day Sue's monitor on her computer took a dump! So I had to renig on giving Janet mine. Sue has been struggling to make my old on work for her and is having a lot of trouble. So last night she went on line and found a Toshiba on sale that she liked. She called Pat to see what model she had and ended up going up and picking it up! Pat sold it to her and has already ordered a Dell. She didn't much care for Vista either. She was having problems with her works systems meshing with Vista. So now we each have a new old Pat computer.

We have had a fire going at the house here for several days. Boy did I miss the nice heat. Someone from Campion dumped several load of wood, some cut, some branches and some even spit. I pick up a load in the mule and brought it home friday and again this morning when we went to feed horses.

Not a lot happening here. Later...

This week Pat got a new Toshiba laptop computer. Her's wasn't that bad but in her line of work time to upgrade. I asked Sue what she was going to do with her old Dell. Long story short- I'm typing on it now. Didn't hurt a bit that Scott was here to reformat it and swap things over, but the music is quit frankly kicking his butt! I have about 10GB of music to reload on here. He has been so patient with me so far and I learn alot from him. Sue just throws up her hands and walks away usually when I ask for help.

In other news- went out yesterday and froze our tushes off but got the water line buried before it froze and damaged the works. We have running water to ALL pens now, sheds for 4 of 6. That hole has been there since this late spring. The guy that rents the back part(quansut hut) wanted me to leave it open so he could hook onto the water( in 3 or 4 more years if we got lucky). He is known for taking forever to do or get anything done.

Went to town with my mom yesterday and we picked out new storm door and entry door for her basement place. Really nice, I think she will really enjoy them. We are having them instold because I have niether the time or desire to do it.

Boy do I like my new routine! I am not hung up on the 4 day part, this week it was 6 but it was to my advantage to just play it out. The way it is suppose to work is "4 days on- 4 days off". I loaded beer at Anhauser Busch in Ft.Collins for Salina, KS. Didn't get loaded till 2am but still made it to Salina in time to unload at noon. I had a dry van(which hardly ever happens) so had to go to KC, MO and swap it out for a reefer. Then on to Ottumwa, IA for a load of pork(actually bacon for Sonic). They told me at 12:17pm when I checked in that it was a "live load" for cold storage. At 6:30 pm I went back in and asked them if they were going to load me any time soon. Responds was NOT what I wanted to here! "Oh, it's been loaded since 2pm!" Assholes...so off I went to Mesquite, TX. Now I am not a big fan of TexASS but what the heck. For 11 years all I have done is run to LA and back, it's time to see some other country. And I am a a big beleiver in the interstste system for getting to where you want to go. But I had the time so went "cross country" and loved every minute of it!!! Made my delivery Monday morning at 8am, rushed over to pick up my backhaul and found out they had cancelled it! So I sat till 8am the next morning. The good news is that because of that I didn't have to leave out Saturday which I didn't want to do anyway. So someone is watching out for us not matter what we think sometimes.

Ok enough even! Later...

Can you believe it! Two week ends in a row. That's only because I have some to tell you. They sent a messege out on our qualcoms at work that they were going to start up a new program and would I be interested? Ok I need a few more details than that so called and talked to the guy who is setting it up. What it is basicly is you share a truck with someone else, we call it "slip seating". Please, don't try saying it to fast! I have trouble with it anyway. They are looking for 16 drivers out of the Denver terminal(area). You run out and back in 4 days and then take 4 days off while your partner runs his 4 days out and back. We get priorty on all freight so we can make it back in time. I HATE what they are doing to me now so told them "why not. The worst that could happen is going back to work with Kelly"(my dispatcher now). So we will see what happens. They want to start Nov 1. Friday was Russ's last day but he told them he might be interested in doing this as my partner. I'll keep you posted. I got in at 5:30 this morning and unloaded, home at 9:30 and have to be back down to go out noon tomorrow! That sucks. I guess if you keep someone busy and away from home it's harded to look for another job!

Later...

I am tired of looking at the blank page so the simpleous solution is blog. Dddaahh!! So much going on. Went down and helped Tim finish decking his patio. Turned out really nice. I was so tired when I got home could barely move. Haven't done much with horse pens except leveled one out. Was going to work on that today but it is wet an snowy.

Scott&Stacie were here over the week end for alumni. Their 15th. I really like the new quieter Stac. Went out to eat at Johnny Carino's, won't be doing that anytime soon! Waited an hour for our table, waited another hour for our food and then could barely choke it down! Service was lousey to say the least. Not good at all.

Things are changing at work and I can't say as I like what's going on. They want us to turn out in 24 hrs after getting in. I could have been home thursday night but would have had to turn out Saturday so drug my feet and got in noon friday. They had a load out sunday morning again for me but when they got to looking it was a tueday delivery and I needed a monday delivery. So now I don't have a load out till monday! Just as well as the kids were here and I really didn't want to leave anyway. I did get a penny a mile raise! That's $25 a week for all you non trucker type.

Downloaded my iPod this week end. Now for most of you that is no big deal. For me it is a major undertaking!! So I have 497 new songs to listen to till christmas songs get downloaded.

Scott priced out a kick ass new computer for me last night, $1392. Guess I'll keep on dreaming as that is as far as it is going, so says Sue.

Just because I don't blog doesn't mean I don't read all the other pages. When I get home and start up my computer the very first thing I do is check all the blog pages. Going to catch up on Grey's Anatomy and kick back.

Later...

Yes it has been quite a while since I have graced you all on my blog page. Not from lack of anything happening but sole lack of time. So here goes.

We got most of the fencing up, but it is not finished. Needs wire clips put on, post cut off, etc. Have been wasting alot of time on pens trying to dig holes for them. Finally broke down an bought a new auger. Now I will have to fine time to work on it again as the next couple of week ends are tided up. Amy has taken Crickett to the mountains riding acouple of times lately and she has done real good, just tires easlily and fast.

I took a week off work and went with Sue to the Union Camporee in Ne..It was good, hotter than hadies but had a good time. Camper worked well, actually the A/C worked great and we had the coldest soda's there! Stopped at Cabela's on the way there, first time for Sue and I. What a great place!! They are Kawasaki dealers too so have great stuff for the "Mule". We bought a Honda generator before we left but were hooked into power while there so loaned it out. Next camp over was complaining about noise from one other staff members generator so we used ours. So quite when running you can stand over top of it and talk and not raise your voice.

Had to pay the price of taking the time off tho. Didn't get in till Monday morning to deliver and left right out as soon as I was empty. Actually Sue had to go down to conference office so met me and we spent some time togather and went out for breakfast before I left. This week I was back by friday at 6pm.

Going down to Tim's and see if I can't help him build a deck in back so will be busy running back an forth. Until later...

That is what I have been doing for the last few weekends. Today we finished putting up the wire and got all the gates hung. Then we put up a pen and went to town to pick up the water parts and when they turn the water on we should be ready to go. The ditch rider has a backhoe and came by this morning and dug down to water line. Took a spill(fall) trying to get a 4" plastic pipe out of the hole. Like to have killed me and the wrist I fell on. The rest of the news I'm sure Sue has toold you( about the Mule).Couldn't get it started tonight, acts like it is stuck in gear. Brian has already put 22 miles on it.

Everything always happens at once. Besides the Mule not working the dryer quit on us tonight. Broken belt or something, tubs not turning. I have to get up at 5 and go down to Denver to deliver Russ's load. Then head out to Guymon and Anaheim, CA. Mom is coming down in the morning to watch kids till Sue gets home. Don't know when I'm suppose to fix anything.

I like having Brian here. He wants so much to help and even tho it takes more time I like showing him how to do things. Tonight while working on the water line he ask me how long I had been plumbing! I told him 25 years or so. We just looked at each other and laughed!!! Around here when we ask him to do something he just pitches in. We had to stand on the end of the roll of wire so it wouldn't wind back up and somebody came by and we got side tracked and when we got back to it he had sat down on the roll of wire and was waiting. I told him next time holler!

Need to get going here or I'll be dead tire in the morning . Kids are sliding down stair and I don't want them to wake Sue. Later...

Yes it's finally over! The house is sold , gone and out of my hair, or what's left of it. We collected our $54 and ran like hell! What a relief, we only had to make a double payment once. As you have heard it was on the market 14 days. I made it home with 40 minutes to spare. And what a headache that was. I wrote my truck up for a service and when I got down to the office Monday it was still in the shop. I went in to find out how much longer and the mechanic told me I wasn't getting it back it had been sold to the divison in Houston! Well that was enough to piss me off. I went over to the office and asked Tim&Kelly when they planned on telling me!!! They knew I was on a tight schedule and said when I got back. He called the shop and told them to get it out post haste. They had already removed the decals from the drivers door so had to replace them.

I didn't have time to move out when I got back so promised them I would go back this morning and moved everything into the back of my pick up. My new truck is 2487, a sister truck to Russ's and a 2007. Totally different dash, all new. No flip switches all rocker that light up when turned on. Other than that same o same o. Has 114000 on it but I am so ready to ditch the old one. Slow ass truck! Tomorrow I have to go thru everything and decide what I want to putin the new truck.

Sue is chomping on the bite to go feed horses so will let you all off the hook and quit. Welcome aboard Mary! Later...
