Colorado Draft Horse Auction

When I left out this week I really wanted to be home for this event. But I'm a realist and didn't figure it would happen. I sat all day wed. after I got unloaded and didn't expect to reload till thu. morning which would be to late. About 6:30 the Qualcom beeps and it is load info! The boss goes home at 4 so I was truly surpised! It was for a load of beer out of Bud going to Washington,D.C. and loaded at 3am Thur morning. Whoa here jack. If I went to bed now and ran over to pick it up I might just could make it. I had supper and ran up there thinking I would check in and go to bed, be their when it was ready. Well, it was ready! Went to check out and they told me my load was wrong(over what they estimated it to be) and take it back to the dock. Story of my life. Anything to waste our time. Two hour later we discovered the problem. The order called for 16 kegs of Ichaban beer. The loader loaded 16 pallet or 48 kegs to many! Now it's after midnight and I'm tired and drove up to Barstow and went to bed. Was up by 5 and back in Denver by 6:30 friday morning!!!

The auction started at 9 and they were prompt. Rows an rows an rows of stuff and junk. Two rows of wagons and buggys outside, much more inside. Three wagons heaped with new stuff they were selling, blankets, leads, buckets, you name it. I bought a bundle of lead ropes and a bundle of hay bags. Hundreds of harness and saddles to sell, riding and driving horses for sale. Had a super time and walked till I was so sore I could hardly move. Sue came down for a while and we had a great time togather. EVERY time she called me I lost the bid on something and the next time it came up it was twice as much so I wouldn't bid! Hey, wait just a cotton picking minute! I think that was on purpose!!!

Got home here at 2:45 and when Sue got home we went over to put away the stuff that I did get. Talked to Amy for a bit which I never get to do. She wants to take me riding in the mountians and I'm dieing to go! But she doen't really have a good saddle a the one she does is a little small so we went looking. Also, when we get Manny ready to go we'll need one for the outrider person. Found one in Bethroud, not much to look at but comfy as heck.

And that is the rest of the story. Later...

Sue:

I did NOT call on purpose during your biddings! How would I know if you were bidding or not? Anyway, on purpose or not -- it worked!! hehe

Sounds like you had a good time. Enjoy the saddle. Happy Birtday!

I'd love to go riding with you & Amy, or just you, or shoot just me. Maybe next time we're over. Hopefully it will be this summer. The kids loved Water World & I don't think we're going to be able to get away with not taking them again,
