Laramie church

Yesterday Sue and Mom and I went up to Laramie to the building dedication for their new church building. In a word - nice. Really nice. And they had a pretty good turn out for the celebration. And enough food to feed and army.

I was late getting out of town again because I badly needed a service on my truck and then couldn't find an empty trailer. Was way to tired to start the week anyway. Tuesday was driving along over by Grants and ran over a piece of gator stretched across my lane and snapped the brake line off right front axle. I made it to the sholder and got the line plugged so I could run it on in to the Petro(only 10 miles away) but couldn't get the brakes backed off. So I called brake down and they sent a Indian kid out with a new line and we had it fixed in no time. I got an hours sleep tuesday night and arrived 10 minutes before my appointment. But no one showed up for 3 more hours to open and unload us(Russ McRae had the same load to the same place for same time). He got his reload and I went back to bed. When my reload came in it was 4 picks, Corona, 2 in Vernon and a L.A.. Made it too Corona and back before rush hour and did Vernon, ate and went to bed till last one opened at 10pm. I was so tired I said screw it and slept till 4:30. I only had 3' or less on back of trailer and 5 pallets to pick up but I hand stacked and what not and got it all in. When I weight it I was 82,460# gross and 39,000 on trailer axle! Ooops. Didn't want to take it back since I had hand stacked it all in there so figured oh well and headed up Cajon. It was closed( I was prepared to wait them out) and I timed it so I would make St. Geo at 1am when they were closed. Came around the bend and they were wide open and running ALL trucks in! I near had a heart attack! Not much I could do at that point but take my medicine. So crossed the scales. Their were 2 guys working inside checking logbooks and not paying attention to scales so just had to produce my logbook for them. If your going to run over weight you had better have it up to date! Don't add insult to injure. Went around Loma and Dumont and was in the yard at 5pm. Made it in time to pick up my check which was the purpose of hurrying home. Then the bad Bad news.

It seems that as of Monday I will become a Navajo employee. They say not but it sure seems that way. Paychecks will come from them(Yhay direct deposit) as will insurance(finally) but we will still be running under Tim at Digby.I don't understand it all, but what are the options? We get new fuel cards, hope it doen't mean we are resticted to Navajo fuel stops. Worst part is that my truck is one of the last 10 new trucks and I have to move out because it has been leased to another Navajo carrier! But the one I'm moving into is a new one just like mine with only 45,000 miles. Driver got deported about a month ago and it has been setting empty. We will have to see how this is all going to work out.

Enough for now. Later...
