Between work and play we have been very busy and I have been a very bad blogger.
This weekend we had our first SCA camping event of the season. Although Erik and I didn't camp, I thought it was still too early. But it turned out to be a great weekend, weatherwise between raindrops on Sunday.
It was also the first annual Pillaged Village event. It was held at one of our members farm about 25 miles outside of town. Saturday night we had a BIG bonfire. It was a really cool setting.
Pillaged Village is an arts and science (crafts and skills) event where we learned very valuable skills. For instance Erik (re)learned the art of blacksmithing, he made us some "S" hooks for inside our tent. I learned that soap making takes a really long time, more time than we had over the 2 days.
On Sunday we had our annual "Herd Master" tournament at Pillaged Village. Erik came in second place. He would have won it had they gone by points, but at the end of the tournament there was a final round that the top 4 competed for the top spot. Erik was the top of the final 4.
During court, I was awarded the "Baroness's Favor" which she can only give out once a year. It was very touching, we were both crying... I was given a very cool medallion to wear that she made herself. (its pewter cast with a winged bull)
All in all it was a super weekend and we are both very tired and its back to work today. The next 2-3 months we are very busy with SCA events.
