Today is my sweet husband's birthday....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!!
This will be my final entry
in Colorado... Tonight Erik will pack up the computer. Tomorrow we load up the big ass U-haul truck.
Then we are off to Nebraska.
Cornhusker country.
Goodbye my home....
We're here!!
Quick recap here...
Friday we loaded up the truck, went out to dinner, came home, cleaned the house up. Went to bed at midnightish. Got up at 2am, left by 3am.
We arrived to our apartment in Lincoln around 2:45 in the afternoon.
Now we have been in the apartment for a week. Erik started working at his new job on Wednesday. I started working yesterday.
I'll tell ya more later, I'm pretty tired right now and all we have right now is crappy dial-up til next week sometime. I just wanted to let everyone know that we made it ok.
Thanks so much for all the prayers for the journey.
Things are not going as expected in the area of the new job... I'm not sure how its going to work out. My first 3 days have been pretty awful...
Day one... There are these 5 or 6 girls that won't give me the time of day. There are 2 that will. Also on day one, one of the girls that won't talk to me puts a notice on everybody's station, it reads:
"Hey Everyone... Attention... XXXXXXX is missing a ring and it is a one of a kind ring so if you find it please give it back. It is silver and has a white stoneon the top. It would be appreciated if you could give it back or we will have to get loss prevention involved. Thank you"
I don't give it much thought, because its my first day and why would I know anything about it. Right?
Day Two... The same set of girls won't talk to me... I am polite, smile and saying "Hi" I just don't get it... I'm nice... So later that evening I am talking to another girl (one of the 2 that will talk to me) and she tells me that XXXXXXX thinks that I have her ring, because I wear a ring on my right hand that looks like her ring.... But she wouldn't come to me that day and ask me about my ring. So on my first day I am marked as a thief.... Why would I steal something an wear it on my first day?
So I write XXXXXXX a note and leave it on her station for her to read on Monday. It says:
"XXXXXXX,
I am aware that you are missing a ring and think that I have it. I assure you that the ring I am wearing is not yours. I purchased this ring at JCP in Colorado last fall. It says on the inside "Thailand" so it is not a one of a kind. I am sorry for the confusion, you are more than welcome to take a look at my ring. Also, next time feel free to talk to me, I am a very approachable person. I am not trying to start something here. I would just like to get along with everyone and have things go smoothly.
Cheryl"
So what do you think? I know what all you SDA people are thinking... If I didn't wear the ring in the first place...
Also on Day Three... the new stylist is to get all the walk-ins if he/she is available (thats company policy) I got skipped over for 3 haircuts in a row and I was standing there at the front desk ready to go the whole time...
One of the girls that will talk to me, is leaving soon and she told me of a salon that she used to work at, that she recomends I go take a look at if I am not happy here. I might just do that... I don't need all this drama....
I think my mood influenced my answers...

you are the "I hate you so bad" happy
bunny. You hate everyone and eveything and your
not ashamed of it.
which happy bunny are you?

Well I decided yesterday to go visit the other job prospect. I walked in and asked if they were hiring for a stylist and they were. The lady gave me an application and went to finish the haircut she was doing. When she was done she came over and sat next to me, turns out that she is the manager. We chatted for a good 20-30 minutes. I left with a new job.
So I then went to JCP, and cleaned out my station. When I walked in, the manager was sitting behind the counter, talking on the phone. I went back to my station and cleaned it out and left. The manager wasn't at the desk anymore so I didn't stop to explain.
Later in the evening the manager called me and asked what was going on. I told her that I have never felt more unwelcome anywhere. She said "I'm sorry you feel like that." I felt like saying something rude back to her about the whole thing. She knows about the ring. I just told her that I found something else.
I am very hopeful about this new salon. Its about 3 blocks from my house, the manager is very nice. I told her about what I was going through at JCP. I think it will work out this way.
I go in on Friday and do all the necessary paperwork and then start working on Monday. So now I have a few more days to unpack the house and get organized around here...

1. I hate Seafood, so I'll take the cans.
2. X-ray vision. I think it would be hard to sleep with the super hearing.
3. 1 wish today
4. Brad Pitt and Dr. Ruth (she can just gives us ideas!)
Erik and I went shopping the other night for things we needed around the house. Although we didn't NEED 4 new DVDs, we wanted them. So joining our huge DVD collection we added:
Troy
Top Gun (collector's edition)
Dodgeball
Sky Captian and The World of Tomorrow
So let's see... hmmm... 3 of the movies have really hot guys in them and 1 has one of the funniest men in the world... Not bad choosing, if I say so myself...
I am so bored... This housewife thing isn't for me. My last day of work in Colorado was January 22nd. So minus those 3 days that I worked here, I have been off for almost a month. I am getting so addicted to The Price Is Right, and I have been watching Oprah too... I think I need some kind of therapy. On Monday it will be offically a month. I can't believe that....And on Monday I start my new job, I go in today to do the paperwork.
Anyway, I've been missing home alittle... Today is Friday and normally on Fridays I'd get up and go next door. My mom and I would usually go out shopping and to starbucks on Fridays. I miss that. I know she is missing it too... I'm hoping that this place will start to feel like home soon.
Ok, I decided to bring it back....
In the movie Dodgeball, where does the team go to celebrate their victory by disqualification?
After I made an incredible dinner we decided to go see a movie. We went to see "Meet The Fockers." Oh man! Once again Ben Stiller is a comic genius... I think this one is funnier than the first one. We laughed so much... I have never really liked Barbra Streistand, but she was so funny as Mother Focker.... You should go see it if you haven't yet...
Today Erik and I just relaxed... We watched a couple of movies. Troy and My Big Fat Greek Wedding... (see the theme)
I talked to my girls on the phone and my friend Aimee on aol instant messenger...
Yesterday Erik and I wandered in the city alittle. We were searching for a proper "gaming" store for him. We went to Long John Silver's for lunch, then in the evening hung out with Ty and Jason until 2am. (and that is the reason why we are so lazy today)
(I got this in an email from my Mom this morning)
* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them
* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of
it.
* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.
* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably
worth it.
* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning
to others.
* Never buy a car you can't push
* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't
have a leg to stand on.
* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
* The second mouse gets the cheese.
* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to
one person.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
* We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and
some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they
all have to live in the same box.
* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

1. Splinter... no reason
2. IHOP!! I love IHOP!!
3. Black belts... Just so I can whoop ass!
4. Flavor Flav, the flashing neon is what killed it. But do I have to leave the house?
Yesterday was my first day at my new job. There is of course a million things to learn. We were pretty busy, being that it was a Federal Holiday and all. Working in the comission world its all about numbers. I did $300 in services, in one day! At JCP back home I wasn't doing that much in a week lately. I'm so excited... My schedule is different but I think it will be ok. Here it is:
Sunday OFF
Monday 9am-8pm
Tuesday OFF
Wednesday 1pm-8pm
Thursday OFF
Friday 9am-8pm
Saturday 9am-5pm
Yes, that's right, you did see a couple of days were I will be working 11 hours. Don't expect me to blog those days!
In this business there is no such thing as having Saturdays off, that is the busiest day of the week at Salons. The manager is willing to give me every 4th -6th Saturday off so that I can have my girls for the weekend and spend it with them.
Too... pooped...too...blog...
Did my first 11 hour day.... Wasn't to bad, just long. I had a good day. Did $275 in services.
Talk to ya tomorrow... going to sleep now...
