Try Mapquest.com they will not only give you driving directions, but the amount of miles and driving times. I have found them to be very accurate and they usually find the quickest route too.

Lincoln to Kansas City about 3 hours give or take depending on where in Lincoln you are and where you're going to in KC.
We just did that trip over Memorial Day.
If I remember right - and don't quote me - I also think Lincoln to Des Moines is about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. That's dredging up some pretty deep memory stuff - not quite the best source of info.
I'd say Mapquest is a pretty good bet for ya - better than my memory anyway!
