Stuff this week

I haven't posted for the past few days because there really hasn't been anything worth posting. But anyway...

Last week the nail tech(Nita) left and I told the manager that I would do manicures and pedicures but not acrylic nails. So on Tuesday he gave me a pedicure "to show me how he wants it done". Honestly I think I do a better job. Then yesterday I did a real live pedicure on a client, then later in the day I did a manicure...

The lady who is Bi-polar and drives us all nuts called in sick again yesterday... She calls in 1-2 times every week and we then have to pick up her slack. So between that and her always needing a ride home I finially told the manager how I felt. As did everybody else a few days ago. Aimee can attest to the fact that I can speak my mind... So I guess he talked to the store manager and she told him to get rid of her... So he's going to talk to her when she returns.

I'm not trying to be rude but she really needs to take a break and get her life in order.

Tuesday night Erik and I started watching "Survive Nugent" on VH-1. They were doing the whole season so we ended up recording it and going to bed. We watched the rest of it last night. We liked the outcome... I have always liked Ted... He's a wild man...

Movie Trivia X

This should be easy, but let's see if the class is paying attention...

Who said this and what movie is it from?

"Well color me happy, there's a sofa built for 2!"

Something Wicked This Way Comes!

YAY!! We are going to see HARRY POTTER this afternoon at 2:45... I have heard lots of good reports from others...

Erik went to work and was home by 10am. I have a shop meeting at noon so after that we are going to see the third HP movie... I'm a bit excited, I love the books and the first 2 movies.

Erik is now in the other room watching "Return of the King" for the I don't know how many-th time. Oh well...

2 Movies

After we got out of HP3 we decided since it was still before 6 and we could get in for the matinee price we'd go see "The Day After Tomorrow" as well... WOW!! That is an awesome movie and if you have any desire to see it at all you should see it in the big screen. Although I don't advise sitting right behind the fella with the worst known case of B.O. (EEEWWWW!)

HP3 was very good, no surprises since I read the books. I don't like this new Dumbledor. He's just not Richard Harris. He doesn't have the same mild manner that Harris has, this guy shows more emotion than Harris did. But he did awfully well considering...

Respect Your Elders?!?!

Have you ever had the urge to bitch-slap an old man at the Taco Bell? I have!

Yesterday I rode with Jamie to Taco Bell. We pulled in behind this small pick-up. The pick-up stops... and starts reversing without looking to what could be behind him. (getting close to Jamie's car) Jamie gives the horn a nice little honk to let the man know, ""Hey, I'm right behind ya!" He then makes eye contact with me from his side rear view mirror and then throws me a dirty look. THEN he throws the pick-up in reverse, steps on the gas, squealing the tires and hitting the breaks. Nearly hitting Jamie's car. Leaving a inch or two between the 2 cars. Then he gets into his parking spot. And we pass him and find a spot. As I get out of the car I glance over at him in complete shock. He calls me a bitch... So I reply under my breath "Don't call me a bitch, old man, you're the bitch."

Once we get into Taco Bell, we tell Thorban, Susan and the girls what just took place. Erik was outside during the entire thing so he saw it. The old man comes in and I was going to let it all go and not say anything to him...

Well he starts yelling at me, stuff about "waiting my turn". I then tell him in a raised voice that "we only honked at you to let you know that we were right there and then you decided to try and hit us." He continues yelling at me, then Thorban pushes me aside and talks (sternly) to the old man. (I can't remember exactly what was being said) But more yelling went on from the old man and then Erik got in and told him to "Fuck off." And that was pretty much the end of it... Nothing more was said but looks were given for the next 10 minutes. This old guys wife was with him and she never said anything or even looked our way, I got the impression she wasn't too happy with her "old man."

The Red Tent

Currently I am reading The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. I didn't think I would really like it, but so many women I know have read it or are reading it. So I figured "what the hay... I'll read it". I am really enjoying this book. I love it... I'm not finished with it yet but I am already missing the charactors and wanting to read more about them.

Sometime over the course of the weekend it dawns on me. The people in the book are people I have known since I was a little girl.

Dinah (the main charactor) has a brother Joseph. Joseph is the boy who was given the groovey coat and was sold as a slave by his own brothers. Dinah's father is Jacob. Jacob is the twin brother of Esau and son of Isaac and Rachel. Isaac is the son of Abraham. Abraham was tested by God and nearly sacrfised Jacob. And when Dinah finds happiness her brother's Simon and Levi kill her beloved and all the men around.

These are all stories that I have known but I never put them together. I never realized that they are all related. I just thought they were random stories. It just never occured to me before that they were all family...

I think this is a must read for anyone...

RIDDICK

I forgot to mention that we did go see Riddick on Sunday. It was good, just didn't have the ending I wanted... And some parts were very predictable. I'll wait to discus it with Scott. He's seeing it soon. I will tell you that, "You keep what you kill".

The price of Java

So, since I work in the hub of gossip, also known as the beauty shop. I get to here all sorts of things. Yesterday someone told me that the Evil Empire Coffee Nazi's are raising their prices. As if they aren't already to bloody expensive... I don't know how reliable my sources are, but it sounds reasonabley news worthy. Such is life I guess....

The end of The Red Tent

Last night I stayed up very very late finishing the book I have been reading. The Red Tent.

Then after wiping my tears I snuggled in close to my sweetie who had no Idea what I have gone through reading that book. I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed that book. I don't remember the last time a book touched my heart like this one.

Let me know what you think of it if you have read it, or when you read it...

Broken Down

Yep.... My car broke down again... This time I wasn't able to drive it home. I turned a corner and all of a sudden there was this sound coming from the driver's side that sounded like nuts and bolts in a blender... So Thorban had to come rescue me. We towed it to Toy R Us and then I went and stole Erik's car. The 2 of them are gonna tow it out to Thorban's this weekend... I'm really getting tired of this car. Thorban thinks that it is the CV joints, and shouldn't be to expensive for the parts. But man am I gonna owe him big time...

Drat! OH well...

Blockbuster Night

Last night we rented movies...

The Missing- watched last night, high creepy factor. Very good, 4 stars.
Love Actually- watch tonight
Master and Commander-seen in the theatres, want to see again. Problably tonight too. Already give it 4 stars.

Erik gets to go up to Wyoming today and spend Father's Day with his Dad and rest of his family up at Vedawoo. He gets to eat and hike and eat and nap and eat and relax, while I get to work.... At least the sun is out and its not raining, we've had rain constantly since Tuesday. But we really need the moisture.

Hope all you dad's out there are having a great Father's Day!

Curses, Foiled Again!

I had to go in to work today ON MY DAY OFF! To go through some training that they didn't do when I was hired. (3 months ago) And mind you, my car is broken down again so I had to walk almost a mile in the rain to catch the bus. So since I had to go there I decided to get there early and get some blonde highlights.

Well, the training ended up be a FAT BLOODY WASTE OF MY TIME... Everything that I "needed" to be trained on I learned the first week I was there. (ie.. running the register...) So needless to say I was and am alittle upset... But I did get highlights so all ended well...

G Mail

I have been reading so much about this G-mail from the people on my blogroll. I had no clue what it was so I went into google and low and behold. Its new email from google. I want one now. I'm hoping that some kind soul who has it will invite me to have it since it appears that is the only way to get it.

Is that a big enough hint?

Anyway Thorban called me last night and my car is fixed again. So today I don't have to take the bus to work.. Jamie is going to take me out the the house so I can pick it up. Speaking of Jamie, she hasn't posted on her site in a long time. But I assure you that she is alive and well... Just busy.

Lost Cause

What is the use of putting on make-up if its all rubbed off by the time you get to work? My allergies are kickin' my butt...

Busy Day

Today I was super busy at work. I did 3 foil highlights all with haircuts and blowdry styles, and 1 haircut. I never got a lunch or a break... But that's how it is for hairstylists. Sometimes there are days where you don't get to sit down. But ya know what? I had an awesome day, I was in the best mood all day. I love to be busy like that. But it would have been nice to have 15 minutes to get a bite.

Also 2 of my girlfriends, Jerri and Christina (from my former place of employment) came to visit me. They made my night... I haven't seen them in a while and was missing them...

G-Mail

Yay! I now have G-Mail! Thanks to Zoot for inviting me. Now I just need someone to write me there so I can test it out... Here's the address...

Sweet Treat

Last week I bought a "Smoothie Maker". Which is just really a glorified blender with a spout. I have been "experimenting" all week. Here is my new favorite smoothie for the summer.

Cheryl's Masterpiece Lemonade
(sorry, I don't really measure things out) (and you can do this in a regular blender)

Ice (maybe 2 handfuls)
1/4 cup (ish) pre-sweetened lemonade mix
1 cup water
frozen Strawberries (or any berries you desire)

Mix til well blended and ice is chopped up.

Today I made it with mixed berries, and it is quite yummy...

So not a morning person

Saying that I am not a morning person is so much an understatement. Today is the first Saturday that I work with my new Saturday hours. 8 freakin':30-4. So that means I have to get up at 7AM! Now to you all who get up at that time or earlier every day won't understand.... That's bloody early for me. I am not a morning person, in fact I hate mornings.

Today I am getting off work at 2:30. My mom and Dad are having a picnic for my Aunt Grace's 50th birthday. We are going to play board games and eat lots of food and maybe even watch a movie or two.

Speaking of movies, while I was out with my parents yesterday getting things for the picnic, I bought a 2-pak of DVD's at Sam's. I got Mr. Deeds and 50 First Dates. I have been trying to rent 50 First Dates but its been out. Erik wasn't too excited about it but I promised him that he would like it and he did. I was going to force him to like it if he didn't.

We watched them both last night and went to bed around 11. For some reason I decided to have insomnia last night. I don't think I actually slept til about 4am. I do remember having some very wild dreams, I'm sure that was the pizza.

Hope everyone has a great weekend out in Blogland. Ciao!

Panty Raid (not like you think)

Its Monday, my day off. I'm cleaning the kitchen and doing my laundry. I hate doing laundry... I always wait til the last moment, when I don't have any undies left. Then its a vicious event where I have to do a good 2 or 3 loads to catch up...

I'm also cutting hair on my day off. Jodi, Janet and Jessalene are coming over to get trims.

Yesterday, I went to Denver with my manager Alfred and another stylist, Janie to a Redken class held just for JC Penney Salons. It was very cool. We got to check out new cutting techniques. Any volunteers to let me try them out?

Two Cakes are Better Than One

I decided to bake Thorban a cake for fixing my car. I know its not much, but I will also be giving him free haircuts for awhile.

Anyway, men are like kids in a lot of ways, right? So now I am baking another cake for Erik and myself. Because you can't give one kid something and not the kid who lives with you.

Good Day, Sunshine

You know its gonna be a good day when you wake up with Chris Isaak singing to ya. Now I'm gonna be singing one of my favorite songs (Wicked Game) for the rest of the day. I just love his voice, makes me melt every time.

Yesterday I had one of the biggest surprises ever. I went to the Beauty Supply with Alfred to get color for my 4:30 appointment. When we got back my good friend Sarah was there to visit me with her 4 1/2 month old son Jacob. I haven't seen her since I left the old salon. She left the other salon a few months before Jacob was born but I would see her often. I was so happy to see her. I held Jacob for a good hour, while Sarah and I went to Chic-fila. Now my arms are feeling it... He is such a sweet baby.

See why I am not a morning person

I'm very tired and as you can see its almost midnight. But I decided it was a good idea to paint my fingernails and toenails. So I can't go to bed til they are good and dry.

Besides its hard to wind down after work and go to bed early when you get off at 9pm... I am so looking forward to Sunday.. Its the 4th of July and I'm off. Its been a good 3 or 4 years since I haven't had to work on the 4th. LOOK OUT!!
