nothing exciting

Nothing that exciting has been happening here in my world. That's why I haven't written about it, didn't want to bore you to tears.

Friday (Halloween) I did get dressed up and went out with my friend Aimee, to a couple clubs here in town dancing the night away. Got home at around 11:30 and stayed up til 3 watching movies. Aimee stayed the night here and was gone when I got up... Just sorta hung around the house on Saturday. And back to work on Sunday. See I told ya it wasn't that exciting. I don't even think there is anything coming up in the near future..

Books I read while I was home sick

While I was sick I read alot. Here's a list.

"Killer Hair" By Ellen Byerrum
A fashion reporter is put up to investigating murders in her Hairdresser's Salon.

"Shop Til You Drop" By Elaine Viets
Drugs, sex, murder and blackmail in a designer dress shop in south Florida.

"Bubbles Unbound" By Sarah Strohmeyer
A hairstylist turned reporter investigates murder that may bring down the most powerful man in town.

Ahoy matey!

My Dad has gone hunting on the western slope, near Maybell. Leaving my Mom alone for a week. Yesterday she had me take her to my work and perm her hair. Then we dillie-dallied the rest of the day away. Went to Bed Bath and Beyond then to the mall then she treated me to Texas Roadhouse... It was quite a day. Later Erik and I went to the $2 movie and saw our favorite movie for like the 4th time. (Pirates of the Caribean)

Today, Erik and I have been lazy most of the morning. We went to the mall with my Mom for lunch. This afternoon he took a nap and I deep cleaned the kitchen. He usually keeps up with the dishes during the week but it really needed the full treatment. I'm off to clean the living-room then the bathroom next... (I know, it sounds like I am up for some fun!)

work

Work has been sorta "blah" lately... Sometimes I feel like I really make a difference to someone. Then other days (like this whole week) I just feel like I am an assembly line haircutting robot. Oh well...

On another note that relates to work. Earlier this week there had been a rumor that our beloved manager had been offered a management position in another store near Vail. And then yesterday she confirmed it and told me that she is going to take it, she just working out the details with the owner. (things... like apartment finding and her season lift ticket... FOR REAL!!) She has been a pain in my side for awhile. Even though here the last couple of months she has had some sort of personality transplant. I'm not saying that she is a bad manager, because she is. She is VERY organized just not very good at the employee relations stuff. She isn't married and hasn't any kids so therefore she doesn't understand that sometimes things happen. I am very excited for her because this is a really good opportunity for her. She would fit in very well with the kind of people up there, and she loves to ski and mountain bike. Her parents live in Grand Junction so she will be so much closer to them.

I think it will be a good thing for all of us...

what would frued say?

Let me ask a question without you looking at me funny... Do you think that if a person hears themself thinking in an accent that maybe they watch too much british television and movies?

Nevermind...

management position

Well our manager is leaving next week. And this has been on my mind alot. All the other girls at the salon really want someone who is already there to step up.

So I am going to apply for it. I do have experience and I believe I have leadership skills. I'm just not sure that I would have the support of EVERYBODY in the salon. Also I don't want any hard feelings from anyone there who might get hurt if I were to get chosen to be the next manager. But on the other hand if I never try I won't succeed, right?

I did it!

Well I did it, I got the courage up and talked to my manager and asked her how she felt if I were to apply for her job. She was very encouraging and surprised that I was interested. She told me to get ahold of her manager and let her know that I am interested. So I called her and she is going to sit down and talk with me next week. So the ball is rolling....

During all this, I nearly forgot to tell you about the weekend I had.

Friday I took my mom to work and gave her a perm and helped my parents around the house. My dad got back from hunting Weds. and so the camper needed some attention.

Saturday was a great day. My good friend Gwynn and I made plans to sit around my house watching movies and scrapbooking. (She is a creative Memories dealer) I call her a dealer because that is what she is, she gives me my fixes! But our plans got changed a bit. She came at 10:30 and we went to a Stamping up party/class, then races home to go to the movies with Erik and a few of our other friends. We saw the new Russell Crowe movie, "Master and Commander". It was very good. Then we got back to my house and scrapbooked til nearly 2 in the morning. I had such a good day with my friend. I really haven't seen her alot lately so it was a great treat...

Violation Day

Warning to those who wish to not know....

Today is Violation Day... The day in which I go to the Dr. for that once a year dreaded woman's exam... I just feel so violated when she is through. But I know it is a neccesary thing, but I don't have to enjoy it...

In other news... Well there really isn't any other news right now. Its the weekend for me and that makes me happy.

Weekend catch up

Well I ended up not going to the dreaded Dr.'s appointment. My car wouldn't start. REALLY! I tried for 20 minutes. So I got up early for nothing. Yes, to me 8:30 is early.

I did get to watch a holiday movie Friday night. A Christmas Story is one of my favorites. Now it is offically the holiday season. I guess I should get a start on my shopping.

Saturday, Erik and I went out to lunch and to see "Matrix Revelations". I have heard alot about this movie from people. Alot didn't like it. I liked it alot... But I didn't see it as an end... I have more questions. I wouldn't be surprised that if in a few years they make another sequel. And please tell me why my favorite charactor had to die?

Sunday, not to much to say about yesterday. I worked. It was a decent day at work, we were slammed all day...

Oh rats!

Yesterday I got a baby rat from one of the girls at work. Her rat gave birth. My little baby rat is so cute. Can't tell really if it is a boy or a girl so we really haven't named it. Its really little, about the size of a fat mouse. Tomorrow it will be a month old.

Sproket, our dog is jealous. He knows that there is something going on.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yesterday was the big day... We ate alot... Went next door to my parents house and ate like pigs.

Today Erik and I went up to Laramie, WY. to go christmas tree hunting. We go up there every year and go chop down a tree with his Dad. Then we go back to his house and drink hot cocoa. Although we didn't get the hot cocoa... hmmmm... I guess I will have to make myself some. So we got the tree set up and now I have to decoate it. And hang up the lights outside if I get a chance...

Management position update

I forgot to mention that last Wednesday when the current manager returned from working up in Avon for several days, she informed us that she won't be going up there. She cannot find an apartment for less than $1700 a month. After all it is a ski town that she's going to. I wonder if she is setting her sights too high, I have seen where she lives now.

So for now I don't have a chance at becoming manager there, but you never know. Now that they are aware that I am interested maybe something else will come my way...
